"I heard you were here." Leona Kya stood at the door. She looked even more disheveled than when I had seen her earlier. Her normally smooth hair looked fuzzy and caught everywhere, and her makeup was smudged. Tear streaks still lined her pale cheeks.

這些是我高中試著寫的故事裡的幾個人物。那個故事要完成還要很久，但是我已經想好了一些人物和他們的外表。這些就是了。這次的作品系列也是我自己想練習交叉排線的畫法，以及畫人物臉部。我找了一些我覺得看起來像故事裡角色的名人的五官，不是把五官改變一下，就是混搭。我用的工具是咖啡色、黑色、藍黑色、和紅色的原子筆，其他的顏色則是用彩虹筆。
These are some of the main characters in a story I attempted to write when I was in high school. The story still has a looooooong way to go before it can be completed, but I've already thought of some characters and what they would look like, and here they are. This was also an exercise for me to practice cross-hatching as well as drawing people's faces. I would take the features of celebrities that I think would look like the characters, and either altered their features or mixed them up. The media I used were brown, black, black-blue, and red pens, and I filled in the other colours with pencil crayons.

Chapter 15
I have had my share of the agonizing wait in the hospital waiting room. About three years ago, when I was still in middle school, my sister had suddenly collapsed during dinner. One second she had been complaining about a girl in her class who always took her eraser without asking for permission, another second she had been down on the floor, her body limp, her face pale as a sheet of paper. My mom had screamed and clung onto her body like it was the end; my dad had kept trying to do everything to help except call for an ambulance. I was the only one who had kept a calm head and grabbed the phone.
The wait at the hospital had been both frightening and exhausting. It had felt like every time the second hand of the clock ticked, a lifetime had passed. My parents and I had been huddled up near one of the small tables, each with a cup of water in our hands but no one actually aware of it. Truth was, we hadn’t known exactly what we had been waiting for. Would the doctors walk out with a healthy Samantha beside them and let us go home, or would they bring out her body and say it was too late? Would they even bring her out? Or would they be leading us in to see her? All they had told us was to wait in the waiting room.

There are three soldiers in battle, and the youngest, Ken, gets shot in the back. While the second oldest soldier, Paul, tries to stop the bleeding, the oldest, Wilbert, asks the wounded soldier to tell them a story to stay awake. The wounded soldier tells a story like this: “Once upon a time, there were three lame cats. The oldest one was named Wilbert. He was very strong, even though he was lame. In fact, he was lame because of his own strength. He hated dogs, and thought they were noisy and disgusting. One day, he fought with a dog that was urinating in his backyard. The dog bit his leg and broke it, and he became lame. The second cat was named Paul. He was very smart, even though he was lame. In fact, he was lame because of his own intelligence. He disdained mice, and thought they were stupid and greedy. One day when he was laughing at a mouse that had its tail caught in a mousetrap, the mouse bet his life that Paul wouldn’t be able to take the cheese out of the mousetrap and get away with it. Paul accepted the challenge, but his leg was broken by the mousetrap, becoming lame. The youngest cat was named Ken. He was neither strong nor intelligent.” “Why was he lame?” Wilbert asked. “No special reason,” Ken said, “He was born lame.”

Chapter 14
The next day, classes went by in a flash. My mind was so occupied by the turkey project that I could not recall anything I learned in class that day. Although I was sure nothing too serious would happen to Tutto, an unpleasant feeling kept poking at a corner of my heart. Something was going to go horribly wrong, I could feel it, but I wish I knew what it was.
Tutto’s unusual fragility of last night also added to my anxiety. Although he had finally opened up to me again, he still wasn't his old self. What happened to the obnoxious laugh, the dancing limbs, the endless talks? Why did he seem so weak and pale? Why was he staggering when we were walking down the stairs from the roof? All these questions clogged up my brain and prevented me from noticing that classes had already ended and my three buddies were all standing beside my seat, trying to wake me up from my thoughts.

the Four Parts of Life of Pi
Life of Pi is the incredible story of Pi Patel, the Indian boy who finds himself stuck on a lifeboat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a three-year-old adult Bengal tiger (124). Instead of going straight to the story, Yann Martel writes the book in four parts to support the theme. The novel starts with the Author’s Note, explaining how the Martel-like writer learns about Pi. In the second part, Pi talks about his father’s zoo and his religious pursuit. The third section is where Pi shares his unbelievable experiences after the sinking of the Tsimtsum. The book is concluded with the conversation between Pi and the two Japanese officials, to whom a second story is introduced. The officials agree that the first story is a fabrication of what really happened. Martel fictionalizes Pi’s story by representing human beings with animals, mocking people’s tendency to see themselves as superior to other creatures; in an imaginative way he demonstrates how under harsh circumstances civilized people and wild animals can have no difference.
Martel justifies the fictionalization of Pi’s story with the italicized passages in the novel, assuring the readers that Pi survives his torment. The writer foreshadows the trickery when he tells us that Indians “like words like ‘bamboozle’” (vi). He goes on describing his attempt to seek truth through fabrication, saying, “That’s what fiction is about, isn’t it, the selective transforming of reality? The twisting of it to bring out its essence?” (vi). This statement shows that there is a tinge of validity in most fantasies. Incredulity also provides a distancing effect on the readers, preventing them from becoming too emotionally involved in the novel and giving them the mental space to analyze Pi’s philosophies. “This story has a happy ending” (117): the readers are saved from having to worry about Pi’s life and therefore can delve into the messages Martel wishes to convey.

After that day on the roof, Tutto was never the same.
The most obvious change was that he didn’t stare at people anymore. When Patricia Gullan, a smart girl who excelled everyone in Physics, was twirling her fingers in class, solving problems that involved the right-hand rule, Tutto’s head was down, staring at his own hands as if they weren’t his; in Drama and Literature, when Ms. Wise was grouping her students together to prepare a presentation of a part of Oedipus Tyrannos, Tutto hid himself from the instructor’s view, eventually walking out of class when all the other classmates were busy discussing about their performances.
