《仲夏夜之夢》是關於兩個世界之間的衝突。當我正在為這個作業想主題時，我去了廁所，對著地上的磁磚發呆。突然之間，就想到了。瓷磚的深淺顏色讓我想起了西洋棋，一個兩個人互相想辦法抓對方國王的遊戲。就這樣，我決定把王室裡的人設計成大理石棋子，而森林裡的角色則是木頭旗子。

The Midsummer Night’s Dream is about the clash of two very different worlds. Trying to think of a concept for this project, I was in the washroom one day and was staring at the tiles on the floor. All of a sudden, it hit me. The dark and light tiles on the floor reminded me of chess, a game where two players try to capture each other’s King! Therefore, I decided to design that court people as marble chess pieces, and the forest people wooden.

王室人物 Court People

他們是大理石棋子。自然地，希修斯是王棋和喜波利達是后棋。但是，因為喜波利達本身是被希修斯綁架來的亞馬遜女王，她的材質是粉紅色的珍珠或珊瑚。伊吉斯是車棋，菲勞斯特萊特是象棋。四個戀人，赫米婭、海麗娜、拉山德、和狄米特律斯，是馬棋。六個勞工則是兵棋。他們都有著白色的身體妝或緊身衣。他們的有底墊的服裝有著大理石紋路。跟森林角色比，他們是一群冷漠而較不有活力的人。

They are marble chess pieces. Naturally, Theseus would be the King, and Hippolyta the Queen. However, because Hippolyta is the Amazon Queen who was abducted by Theseus to the court, she is made of pink pearl or coral. Egeus is a rook, and Philostrate a bishop. The four young lovers, Hermia, Helena, Lysander, and Demetrius, are knights, and the six rustics are the pawns. They would all have white body makeup or leotards, and their padded costumes would be painted with marble patterns. They are a cold, less lively group of people, compared to the forest characters.

森林人物 Forest People

森林人物是塗彩色漆的木頭棋子。提泰妮婭是后棋，奧布朗是王棋，帕克是象棋。奧布朗的精靈們是兵棋，提泰妮婭的精靈，豆花、飛蛾、和蛛網，是車棋。他們有正常膚色，但他們全身都塗著彩妝。提泰妮婭和奧布朗有較亮、較濃的顏料。帕克的漆在慢慢剝落。精靈們的漆已經淡掉了。當波頓變成驢子時，他長出木頭的耳朵和長黴的鬃，變做馬棋。

The forest people are painted wooden chess pieces. Titania is the Queen, Oberon the King, and Puck a bishop. Oberon’s fairies are pawns, and Titania’s fairies, Peaseblossom, Moth, and Cobweb, are rooks. They have natural skin colour, yet they will be painted all over with their assigned colours. Titania and Oberon would have brighter, richer paint, Puck’s paint is peeling off, and the fairies’ paint is fading. Bottom, when he turns into an ass, grows wooden ears and a mossy mane, and turns into a knight.

婚禮 Wedding

王室人物為了婚禮打扮換裝。所以，他們有一層淡淡的顏色塗在他們白皙的服裝上。

The court people dress up for the wedding; therefore, they have a pale sheen of colour on their pale white costumes.

王室戲劇表演 The Court Play
大理石人物為戲劇穿是他們所謂的「服裝」，所以，他們穿上塗有漆的大理石。
The marble actors of the court would want to decorate themselves in what they would call “costumes”; therefore, a little bit of painted marble would be what they would wear.
